Newcastle Rugby Foundation have been running their eight-week summer of touch league, and on Sunday they held their annual beach touch rugby festival for all the teams who have been involved.

It was a great day in the sun with some very competitive rugby being played.

After the group stages it was announced that the final would be played by the equally-matched teams of Rockcliff All Stars and Rockcliff Rattlers.

It was a close match, with both teams scoring some impressive tries. But in the end, Rockcliff All Stars were crowned the winner of this year’s festival with Newcastle Falcons player, Marcus Tiffen, awarding them the trophy.

The festival at Longsands beach had an amazing backdrop of The Tynemouth Castle Inn, part of the Inn Collection Group, which proudly supported Newcastle Rugby Foundation Beach Touch Festival for the second year.

With 30 fabulous pubs with rooms available across Northumberland, Tyne & Wear, Co.Durham, North Yorkshire, the Lake District, Lancashire and North Wales, you’ll fit right inn wherever you decide to visit.

Cones Ice Cream Parlour, part of the Tynemouth Castle Inn, called by the festival on Sunday with a free sample of some of their delicious, freshly made gelatos.
