Our Futures Programmes
Pioneered by former England rugby international Tony Underwood and co-authored by acclaimed emotional intelligence coach Lysa Morrison and former double Olympian Chris Cook.
Futures is a 6 part Emotional Intelligence programme that covers the 4 key pillars:
Self Awareness:The ability to recognise and understand our emotions.
Self Management:Choosing how to respond rather than react to emotions
Social Awareness: Recognising and understanding the emotions of others and why that’s important.
Relationship Management: How to pull all of the learnings together to have more fulfilling and productive relationships.
By the end of the of the sessions students will have increased their power skills base along with their overall mental well being, equipping them with a higher chance of success for their future.
We know that by equipping young people to thrive personally and socially, we create ripples of positive change that can uplift entire communities, breaking cycles of hardship and fostering a brighter, more connected local society.
Since February 2024, the programme has impacted the lives of over 400 individuals in the North East and we’re not done yet.

A stand out moment for us
Among the students we worked with was Jordan, a young person who had recently joined his school after being expelled from his previous one.
From the moment we met Jordan, his maturity and respectful manner stood out, making it hard to understand how he had been expelled. Particularly as Jordan told us he was captain of his local rugby team—a role that highlighted his leadership potential.
Over time, Jordan opened up about the reasons behind his expulsion. He admitted that he struggled with managing his emotions which had led him to push boundaries too far, something he recognised as a significant setback.
Through the sessions, Jordan often reflected on his behaviour, sharing insights about his background and how it may have influenced his actions. His ability to articulate these challenges demonstrated fantastic self-awareness and growth, highlighting the transformative impact of the Futures programme on his outlook and emotional resilience.
