Brighter Together: Supporting Mental Health at the First Home Game of the New Year

Wednesday 31 December 2025 Written by: Rose Mclean

As we enter a new year, Newcastle Rugby Foundation is proud to launch a new partnership with Mental Health UK, reinforcing our long-standing commitment to supporting mental health and wellbeing across our communities.

Mental health is something that affects us all. As a foundation, we see first-hand the importance of creating safe spaces, encouraging open conversations and ensuring people know that support is available — particularly at the start of a new year, when many can feel under pressure or isolated.

A Dedicated Match Night: 2nd January

The upcoming Newcastle Red Bulls home game against Gloucester on Friday 2nd January will be dedicated to our Brighter Together campaign, bringing fans, players and partners together around a shared message of connection and support.

Supporters attending the evening match will be able to purchase glow sticks inside the stadium, helping to create an incredible neon atmosphere while showing solidarity for mental health awareness.

Supporting Life-Changing Work

All proceeds from glow stick sales on the night will be donated directly to Newcastle Rugby Foundation and Mental Health UK, helping both organisations continue delivering vital programmes and support services to those who need them most.

This campaign is about more than one evening — it’s about starting the year with intention, compassion and a shared commitment to wellbeing.

Thank You to Our Partners

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Newcastle Red Bulls for their continued support and for providing a platform to shine a light on mental health at such an important time of year.

We are also incredibly grateful to Team Mental Health UK for their collaboration, dedication and teamwork in bringing the Brighter Together campaign to life.

Together, as we begin a new year, we are proud to stand Brighter Together.
