Fancy doing the Great North Run in aid of the Newcastle Rugby Foundation on Sunday September 8?

They are seeking 12 individuals who are willing to take on one of the largest half-marathons in the UK and help raise valuable funds to support its cause.

By participating in the Great North Run for Newcastle Rugby Foundation, you can make a significant contribution to the team’s efforts to use rugby as a force for positive change that can transform lives for the better.

Each year, the charity helps to improve the lives of over 15,000 people in the North East and Cumbria. It strives to have a positive impact by promoting well-being, developing skills, increasing participation and fostering a sense of belonging.

Reece, a Level 3 HITZ student who ran the Great North Run in 2023 for the Foundation, credited how programmes delivered by the Newcastle Rugby Foundation have positively impacted his life.

HITZ is an education and employability course that runs in partnership with Newcastle College and Premiership Rugby. The programme aims to re-engage young people in education using sport as a vehicle.

Level 3 HITZ student Reece said: “Without the HITZ programme, the CAST and Newcastle College, I wouldn’t be the person I have found myself to be today. The staff and pupils involved are incredible in my opinion, working with me week in and week out to help improve my mental and physical well-being.

“I will always be proud to represent this amazing community and I love to see where my future will be with this amazing team!”

Those running as one of the Foundation’s 12 fundraisers are asked to raise a minimum of £250, with all monies going directly to the Newcastle Rugby Foundation, funding continued work in communities throughout the North East and Cumbria.
