Kingston Park was full of energy, excitement and smiling faces on Saturday as Newcastle Rugby Foundation welcomed hundreds of young players for a special match day festival ahead of the Newcastle Red Bulls vs Lions fixture on Saturday 13th December.
Local clubs from across the region joined us at Kingston Park, bringing their Under 7s, 8s and 9s teams for the ultimate pre-match rugby experience. Despite the winter chill, the young players threw themselves into the festival, showing fantastic enthusiasm, teamwork and determination throughout the morning.
From the first whistle to the final try, the atmosphere was brilliant. Judging by the smiles on the children’s faces – and the overwhelmingly positive feedback we’ve received – it was a day to remember for everyone involved. We also hosted a Christmas Party for the children afterwards in Kingston Park’s Hundred Club, where they were able to play Xbox, unwrap presents and meet Santa!
We would like to say a huge thank you to all the children who took part, as well as the parents and coaches who supported them and helped make the day such a success. Your commitment to grassroots rugby is what keeps the game thriving in our communities.
A special thank you also goes to the Newcastle Red Bulls players, who took the time to come along, meet the young players and make the experience even more memorable. Their presence meant the world to the children and perfectly showcased the strong connection between the professional game and the grassroots community.
Events like these sit at the heart of what we do at Newcastle Rugby Foundation – creating inclusive, positive opportunities for young people to enjoy rugby, build confidence and feel part of something special.
Here’s to the next one.
