Tackling Insights Tag Rugby Festival

Alongside the Newcastle Rugby Foundation, we were thrilled to host our Tag Rugby event at Kingston Park Stadium on Tuesday May 21, welcoming over 200 enthusiastic pupils from seven schools across the region. The afternoon was filled with excitement and energy as students participated in a series of action-packed tag rugby matches.

These pupils had recently completed the Tackling Insights Programme, proudly supported by Sage Foundation. This event served as a fantastic platform for them to showcase the skills and knowledge they acquired during their sessions.

Since its relaunch in March, the Tackling Insights Programme has been using rugby to teach students about Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths (STEM). By integrating rugby with STEM education, the aim is to make these subjects more engaging and accessible to young people.

Supported by the Sage Foundation, the Tackling Insights Programme aspires to inspire participants to consider careers in STEM fields. The programme leverages the core values of rugby—teamwork, discipline, respect, and integrity—to foster a passion for learning and innovation among the students. Through hands-on activities and real-world applications, the pupils gain valuable insights and experiences that can influence their future career choices.

We would also like to thank all the dedicated Sage volunteers who attended the festival and who have also been supporting the sessions within schools. A big thank you must also go to the TyneMet Rugby Excellence students for their support and for making it a great experience for all participants on the day.
