At Newcastle Rugby Foundation, we believe rugby is for everyone. Not just those who’ve played before. Not just those with the perfect pass or the fastest sprint. Everyone.
That belief is being strengthened today, thanks to a generous £2,500 donation from The Hedley Foundation, which will go directly towards new equipment for our Learning Disability (LD) rugby programme.
Every Monday night, something special happens. People arrive, lace up their boots, and get stuck in – laughing, running, sweating, and most importantly, belonging. Our LD sessions are built around one simple idea: that every person deserves the joy and community that rugby brings.
This donation means we can invest in the kit and equipment our LD players deserve, helping us deliver sessions that are safer, more engaging, and more fun.
It matters more than you might think. In our most recent impact report, we found that 15% of our participants across our programmes have a disability or learning need. That’s not a small number, that’s a community. A community that shows up, week after week, and gives everything they’ve got on that pitch.
We are deeply grateful to The Hedley Foundation for recognising the importance of inclusive sport and for investing in the people who need it most. Their support is a reminder that when organisations come together with a shared purpose, real change is possible.

Together, we’re building a rugby family that truly leaves no one behind.
