At our final home game of the season, the TyneMet Rugby Excellence Programme celebrated the conclusion of its season with an awards ceremony before our clash with Bath Rugby, providing another great experience for the players.

The event highlighted the hard work and dedication of the students, who have honed their skills on and off the field.

This season has been filled with remarkable highlights for both the boys’ and girls’ teams.

The boys celebrated key victories, including triumphing over Queen Ethelburga’s, reaching the ECRFU cup quarter-final against Bishop Burton and enjoying a trip to Sale Sharks. The girls’ teams were equally impressive, remaining unbeaten at home and showing significant improvement against formidable opponents such as Bishop Burton and Loughborough College.

Overall award winners:

  • Tynemet Boys Player’s Player – Joseph Ross
  • Tynemet Girls Player’s Player – Libby Anderson
  • Tynemet Boys Coaches Player – Jake Parry
  • Tynemet Girls Coaches Player – Brooke Henderson
  • Tynemet Boys Most MET – Nathan Abraham
  • Tynemet Girls Most MET – Sofia Hellevik

The programme, in collaboration with the Falcons Community, provides aspiring rugby professionals with a pathway to a career in the sport or rugby industry.

Participants not only pursue an NCFE Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport but also immerse themselves in a professional rugby environment. It offers a holistic approach to rugby education, including media training, post-match analysis, and access to state-of-the-art strength and conditioning recovery sessions.
